Hi!
Thursday Easter week and we decided to do Boeuf Bourguignon, Julia Child’s Boeuf Bourguignon!
We have wanted to tried that dish since we saw the movie "Julia and Juliet" for the first time when it just got released a couple of years ago…and today just seemed to be the best day to do it. Because we have absolutely nothing else then homework to do this Easter Thursday and cooking is so much more fun then homework!
So we googled the recipe, went to the big Walmart store and started to collect meat, fresh mushrooms and small onions….but for some strange reason we could not find the wine section… Where have, they hidden the red wine?! Then it hit us both in the same time: Today is one of very few days in Costa Rica when you cannot buy any alcohol at all. Today and tomorrow. Moreover, they did not have any non-alcoholic wine just for cooking either. Anticlimax!
Yes, we are going to do a Boeuf Bourguignon…but it will not be Julia Child’s Boeuf Bourguignon!
This time either. Unless she did not use grape juice and vinegar as a substitute for wine?
We guess not. However, we will get back to you. And tell you how a Boeuf Bourguignon with grape juice tastes.
